Rev. Dr. Charles Owusu Ampofo was born at Suhum, and traces his ancestral roots to Kade in the Eastern Region of Ghana. Born and nurtured in a Presbyterian home, he made a personal commitment to the Lord in 1980, accepting Christ at an evangelistic crusade hosted by the Baptists, and later became a founding member of the Resurrection Baptist Church, Kade. He became an evangelist who preached and taught many souls — at their homes, on street corners, through dawn broadcasts, and on buses.
He was also instrumental in the evangelization and eventual planting of Abodom Baptist Church. Rev. Dr. Ampofo joined the Scripture Union at school and the Town Fellowship during vacations, and later joined the Child Evangelism Fellowship (CEF), founding the Good Shepherd Good News Club, which was instrumental in "catching young" many children for Christ. His wife, Mary, has been inspirational and supportive in life and ministry, and the couple is blessed with four children: Michael, Evangelina, El-Jude, and Annette.
Pastor attended the New South Wales Baptist Theological Seminary (Morling College) in Sydney, Australia, for his B.Min. and M.A. (Theology) degrees in 1998 and 2000 respectively. He further pursued a PGD in Education at the University of Cape Coast, and has recently completed a Master of Philosophy research study on eco-theology and sustainability at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi. He served as an adjunct lecturer for four years at the Ghana Baptist University College, School of Theology and Ministry, and is serving his second term as chairman of the Kumasi Area Baptist Ministers' Fellowship.
He has served as senior pastor of Victory Baptist Church, Kumasi, since 2001. He believes in holistic ministry and has been instrumental in the institution of the Victory Baptist School Complex and the Relief Fund for the needy, reinforcing pastoral care to the community.
"We have nothing to fear unless we forget what God has done for us in the past — Revelation 1:8. The Son of God crucified, also resurrected on the third day, and had become the most precious and treasured gift the world has ever had."
